Run, [insert name here], RUN!

We're a-gonna run the '08 Boston Marathon!

Tuesday, May 02, 2006

Woohoo!

Alrighty, so I've decided:

Boston runners, watch out. I'm going to run the Marathon.

As you probably know, the Boston Marathon is kind of a big deal. What you may not know, is that semi-casual long-distance runners (heh) can run it, too.

I'm kinda still upset about the fact I'm not playing D-I hockey. I know I'm kinda having trouble channeling all that energy somewhere (can we say obsessions about the Red Sox? Cleaning? etc...) so this is what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna turn my lazy jogs along the Charles into something productive.

Oh, and Jesse [the coolest brother ever] is running it too. He just doesn't know it yet. Is it my fault I couldn't get ahold of him? Naaaahhh...

I figure training for nearly two years is good. So Patriot's Day 2008, we're SO there!

To qualify, you must first run a different marathon and have a certain time. For me, it'll have to be 3:40:59. For Jesse, it'll be 3:10:59.

Basically, I'll update this (and try to get Jesse too also) periodically to talk about training and such. I think it'll be fun.

WOOT!!! I'm so excited for you! Training for a marathon is tough business, but I know you can do it. A guy in our ward is training for one right now. In fact, they have a marathon here in Reno every year on your birthday... I think they call it the "Cinco de Mayo-athon" or something like that. Work hard for the next year and come try it to help get you ready. That'd be cool. Heh.

There is the Rock 'n' Roll marathon in San Diego though...that might work...

A marathon--cool! But hey, my husband is running it? What's this? I'm so confused. Are you telling me that you're planning on taking him away from me for a little while again? I'm not sure I can approve of that.

I love ya though!

Cool! I get to come watch--and meet you with water or something...I don't know, just that during the marathon, or whatever in Richmond, people do all that sort of stuff.

But, 2008, maybe, hmmm, I'll just cheer from afar--or an air conditioned room...

I'm sure Jesse will be thrilled to learn your plans for him...:)

A Marathon? As in. . . well, a MARATHON? As in "The 26.2-mile-monster?"

If you are really serious, and my back isn't completely destroyed, then let's do it! I'll go with you. The Rock n' Roll marathon is a cool. It snarles traffic around the whole county for an entire day, but it really is amazing to watch.

We definitely need to talk more about this, though.

See, Jesse and I have this communcation problem right now. But that should be fixed in a week or two, eh?

And yeah man, we're doing it.

Mom, don't worry about air-conditioning. It's in Boston in April. Ya don't need it. This year it was like, 40 degrees.

psst...lura...this means you get to visit new england, free excuse, see?
